The study, stating that the cockroaches have personality

Not too touchy, rather uzhivchivyeEsli you in her apartment ever faced with a cockroach - say, one second before the crush of his sneakers - you will likely hardly wondered whether these insects individuality.

But researchers from the University of Brussels this question set. Actually, they were trying to find out whether these alleged "cockroach personality" to influence the collective decision-making groups of cockroaches.

19 groups of cockroaches, which included 16 male cockroaches of the same age, equipped with tiny transmitters accurately track all of their movements.

Three times a week, the set of 16 cockroaches - both individually and in groups - in the darkened arena produced from plastic.

After that lit the light, and the researchers measured how quickly the cockroaches run away into the shadows. They found that the different cockroaches behave differently, both in relation to each other, and depending on whether they are included in the group, or not.

While some cockroaches after lights immediately tried to hide in the shadows, others seemed not to notice that the light suddenly lit up.

The researchers concluded that this points to a number of personalities from the individual cockroaches, and this diversity of personalities - that allows cockroaches to adapt to different circumstances and the most different situations.

Generally, it would be much more surprising if suddenly the researchers found that all the cockroaches behave the same way. In general, the results of their research can hardly be considered evidence of "cockroach of individuality." But when the next time you see cockroaches in the trash, yet do not forget that the one you are trying to crush, may be particularly sensitive person.
