Snowball - the only known albino gorilla Science

Snow was born around 1964, and two years later was taken to the zoo in Barcelona (Spain), where he lived all his life. Snow became world-famous as the only albino gorilla, found in human beings.

The gorilla was completely healthy for most of his life and different from the fellow only white skin and coat. Since Snowball eyes, like all albinos, have been deprived of the pigment, he did not like bright lights and camera flashes. He had a large offspring: 22 child, none of whom was an albino.

Snow died at the ripe old age of about 40 years, the average life expectancy of wild gorillas - 25 years. In recent years, the monkey was suffering from cancer of the skin caused by lack of the pigment, and it was decided to euthanize.
