Dogs longer like to be stroked, not praise

Iron the molcha

Everyone knows that dogs love to snuggle. But what they love most - when the master praises them, or when the iron? Two scientists from the University of Florida have decided to find out. Scientists are also interested in whether the dog matter who their praises or strokes - the owner or a stranger.

The study found: yes, dogs love to snuggle, with them it does not matter who it is their strokes - the owner or a stranger. Interestingly, a previous study by the same authors showed that there is something beloved dog even more than a caress - the food.

So, if dogs could choose, you would choose, of course, kindness, and not just praise. The study involved three control groups: a dog from a shelter, pet dogs, interacting with strangers, and domestic dogs with owners. And affection prefer dogs from all three groups. All dogs that stroked, then praised or stroked eight sessions of three minutes each row, not reinforcing it with gentle words. And orphanages, and domestic dogs tried later to spend more time to iron them a stranger, and to the one who to them only spoke softly, after not even approached. Moreover, the dog did not show any signs that they caress tired even after eight three-minute sessions in a row.

Apparently, the weasel - is an important element of social behavior between dogs and people, with which you can easily communicate without any obligations. But praise must be earned.
