Tiara with diamonds and emeralds, which is believed by historians, belonged to Eugenie Montijo, empress of France and wife of Napoleon III, has been sold to the jewelry auction Sotheby's for 12, 80 million dollars.


Diadem decorated with 11 Colombian emeralds weighing more than 500 carats and 11 diamonds emerald cut. The tiara was created in 1897 by order of Count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck for his second wife Yekaterina Sleptsova.
Diadem has set a new record price for jewelry of this type.
