Festo also showed an ant robot and robot butterfly
Each year, Festo is another robot. Last year it was a kangaroo robot. Now the developers of the company decided to create a robotic insects, to be precise - ants. Thus BionicANT designed so that not only look like a real insect, but behave accordingly. Each ant has six legs and piezoelectric mandibles.
On a single battery charge ant can survive about 40 minutes. Robotic insect "communicate" with fellow wireless communication, each ant has 3D stereo cameras to detect objects that are around and navigation. A robot created by selective sintering of polymer. The electronic part - is a series of modules interconnected.
In addition to the ant, the company's specialists presented and robot butterfly, which weighs only 32 grams. Housing butterfly created using the same process for selective sintering of polymer, and a material for the carbon fiber was the wings. Two miniature servo control wings are attached to both the body and wings. Electronic components - gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, two wireless radio. Flight time is 3-4 minutes.
In flight, the butterflies do not collide with each other. The fact that the cameras are installed in a room that track the location of each butterfly. The central computer receives the data and controls the movement of each robotic insect.
