On that day, around 17.00 two six-year boy, Ilya Malyukin and Misha Karapetyan, bathed in the pond behind the building of the regional library. Both were in the water when Michael suddenly started to sink. Ilya managed to call for help, but soon also began to go down. The cries for help heard a local resident, 26-year-old Vadim Prodan. He ran up and saw at a distance of 20 meters from the shore of Ilia. The man ducked several times, but found the boy and pulled to shore. He was conscious and told them that the water is still a child. Vadim went back into the water and continued to dive until he found Misha. The man grabbed the child by the hair and pulled ashore, where the boy had first aid. After some time, Misha regained consciousness. Both boys were sent to Osinski CRH.

Later, Vadim said he thought if he did not know how to swim, but seeing the drowning child, forgot everything and rushed to save him. In the pond ozinets Vadim received a leg injury: hit the sticking out of the bottom of the valve; in the hospital, he left a few stitches.
