Yousuf Karsh (Yousuf Karsh) - (December 23, 1908 - July 13, 2002) - Canadian master of portrait photography. Born in Mardin, Turkey.

In 1927, fleeing the genocide, fled with his family to Syria. From there after 2 years parents sent Yousuf to Canada to his native uncle.

Yusuf then moved to Boston to study with portrait photographer John Garo (John Garo).

When he returned, after 4 years, in Canada Karsh opened his own studio.
