Russia armed with ballistic missile "Liner"

Russian Navy has adopted a new ballistic missile submarines R-29RMU2.1 "Liner", reports "Interfax" referring to a source in the Russian military-industrial complex.




The missile entered service in early 2014; it is planned to equip strategic nuclear submarines of the project 667BDRM "Delfin».



The program of flight tests of a ballistic missile "Liner" was completed in October 2011. In total, have been produced two test missile launch 20 May and 29 September 2011. They were found to be successful. It is expected that members of the armed submarines of the "Dolphin" new "liners" will be used interchangeably with upgraded ballistic missiles R-29RMU2 "Sineva».



"Liner" is a modification of the missile "Sineva". The new rocket provides the possibility of combining the combat load. In particular, the head of the P-29RMU2.1 can be equipped with eight or ten warheads low-power or medium-power four blocks. At the same time fighting units can be installed simultaneously with the complex means to overcome missile defense systems.



According to open sources, the length of the P-29RMU2.1 is about 15 meters in diameter ─ 1, 9 meters and launch weight ─ more than 40 tons. The rocket complex "Liner" allows volley and single missile launches when driving at depths up to 55 meters and at speeds of up to seven knots. By equipping submarines of the "Dolphin" missile "Liner" their service life will be extended at least until 2030.
