Lunar eclipse 21.12.2010 (52 pics + 1 video)
Hanging high in the sky the moon is gradually changed its color from silver to red in the early morning on Tuesday. Total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth casts its shadow on the full moon, blocking the sun's rays that would otherwise reflect off the surface of the moon. Some rays of sunlight to still get to the moon, giving it an eerie hue. 3.5-hour celestial spectacle was visible from North and Central America, where the sky was clear. Visibility in Europe and Asia has been hampered because of the snow. Since the total lunar eclipse coincided with the winter solstice, the moon shone high in the sky. The last time this happened more than three centuries ago, 21 December 1638.
