The real picture of the world
From childhood, we are accustomed to the Mercator projection. It's all wrong. The equator is not located in the middle; Greenland is the size of Australia; we do not know more than that Yakutia Kazakhstan; we are confident that Europe no longer in South America; it seems that the size of the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic; we do not know that Mexico area over Alaska; it seems to us that Russia - a vast country neebicheski.
This Mercator projection, where all areas near the poles stretched up to infinity.
And this is the real area ratio. Peters Projection. It's a shame to be a long sausage, but it is clear why so few Russian cities vertically and horizontally as much. The real area ratio.
In principle, the same will be seen on the globe, if it be cut to pieces by political boundaries and compare fragments.
It is a pity that the school did not show this.
