Church on a volcano (6 photos)

The small church of San Michele (Saint Michel) towers over the city at a height of 85 meters. The French are rightly considered Saint-Michel and its bay the "eighth wonder of the world", and the Europeans - "a miracle of Western Europe."

To get to it, the parishioners have to climb the 268 steps carved into the volcanic formation. The tide in the bay, above which rises a rock, one of the most powerful in the world.

Three rivers meander along the sandy shores: Behold, Selyun and Couesnon. Unesco has made even the Saint-Michel in the Register of the world's natural and cultural heritage.
