Egyptian fruit bat (Rousettus aegyptiacus) is unique in that unlike other fruit bats in this species discovered echolocation. In the daytime Uritu Egyptian fruit bat are caves where no sunlight penetrates, and where there is total darkness. To navigate in these volatile conditions the dogs need echolocation. Perhaps some echolocation abilities are also developed in other species of flying dogs (genus Rousettus), but so far it is safe to say that there is only echolocation in this species. However, I must say that Egyptian fruit bat echolocation is not as perfect as the bats (suborder Microchiroptera). But, in turn, Egyptian fruit bat obladabyut much better vision and a well developed sense of smell.
