This year marks 50 years of Hawaii - the 50th state of the United States of America. March 18, 1959 Congress passed a law allowing the territory of Hawaii to join the 49 states. August 21 the same year, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially named Hawaii the 50th state of the USA.
