History KrAZ

KrAZ history began in the thirties of the last century, when in Ukraine, Poltava region, in the city of Kremenchug Aviation Plant construction began. But with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War the plant construction was frozen, and built factory buildings were destroyed by bombing and artillery shelling.
August 31, 1945 the People's Commissariat of Railways ordered the construction of the plant in Kremenchug bridge structures. After all, the country was required to restore the destroyed infrastructure of roads and railways. Already in 1948 the factory has been completely redeveloped and started producing bridge structures. In just eight years the plant has produced more than 600 bridge structures.
Gradually, with the progress of a successful recovery of the economy need to produce such a large number of bridges and disappeared in 1956 Kremenchug plant was transferred to the Ministry of tractor and agricultural machinery, and renamed Kremenchug combine plant. And in the field of production of combine harvesters and agricultural machinery factory succeeded. The plant produced this technique from 1956 to May 1958, and in such a short period of time produced more than 11 thousand units of agricultural tehniki.KRAZ 6322
It is in May 1958 as the beginning of the history of KrAZ automobile plant. In May 1958 it was accepted by the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Soviet Union on the establishment of the factory in Kremenchug heavy vehicles and the plant was transferred to production of heavy trucks. The main equipment was transported to the Yaroslavl Automobile Plant (YAZ), and for the Yaroslavl factory left a production of power units and renamed it Yaroslavl Motor Works (YaMZ). Mastering the production of automotive parts began in January 1959, and in April, was completed assembly of the first two types of truck frames YAZ on our own production of parts and components imported from the Yaroslav automobile plant.





The first trucks came off the assembly line as early as May 1, 1959 ten-gone first, three-axle dump trucks under its own brand Dnepr 222, which immediately took part in a May Day demonstration. The name of the Dnieper has not caught on, and the truck was given a well-established labeling for abbreviation plant. That is exactly what came the famous brand of heavy-duty trucks KrAZ.

The first major upgrade of trucks KrAZ held in 1965, providing them with more powerful and economical diesel YaMZ 238 and a five-speed manual transmission - so appeared KrAZ 257, available in different versions until 1995, until it became clear that this model is hopelessly outdated.
In 1979, the plant even set a record - was reached maximum output of trucks per worker in the ratio 1: 1, 6, which was even for the world's truck manufacturers simply seasoned productivity and automation.
