About a thousand years, wooden statue, which has no analogues in the Slavic world, lay in the area, which is now under water at a depth of 3-4 meters. In 1991, two Polotsk submarine hunter amateur immersed in the river Drissa, when one of them grabbed the wooden support to resist the flow. Looking, for which he took a hunter under the impression remembered the place, but really matter what he saw a figure with a human face not given ... 20 years later, in a conversation with a friend archaeologist he remembered the wooden statue on the river bottom. Experts dive in this place, and to my surprise, discovered the find exactly where 20 years ago, she saw the hunter.

Analyzing the image of the face and neck idol, experts suggest that found a higher deity pantheon of pagan gods: Velez or possibly Perun.
