Petropavlovsk and its surroundings ...

Kamchatka is probably one of the most exotic and interesting regions of not only Russia but the whole world. I do not know if there is anywhere else region, where you can find a number of ski resorts, the ocean, volcanoes, hot springs, "ethnic" villages, incredible selection of seafood and ... kondovy Russian carelessness in its worst manifestation.
Kamchatka, by and large, is a land without limits. Not in the bandit-criminal sense of "outrage", of course, but the fact that here, as would be more accurate to speak, there is no half-tones. And if something can happen in Kamchatka, or already exists, it is very bright, noticeable and endlessly surprising manifestations. To begin, for example, the size of this peninsula. Did you know that it's actually huge, and without access to air different points of its simply impossible? When you look at a map, it seems that Kamchatka is quite small, and is accessible to Petropavlovsk as to all the other places and towns can be reached just by foot. The monstrous delusion! Before Palau, Ust-Kamchatsky and Yelizovo fly Ossorio of about 800-1000 kilometers, and because these settlements are still very far from continental Eurasia. The worst thing (yes, it was terrible), which is to a large part of Kamchatka's attractions can be reached only by air, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The main airport of Kamchatka, which is located 25 kilometers north-west of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, is located in a completely natural environment of incredible beauty. I do not even know if there is another world where any airport, landing on that aircraft first maneuvers between mountain ranges and volcanoes, then make a U-turn over the city, as if to show passengers where they fly and, at the close, dropping over the most beautiful bays in the world. Here is the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky from a height of about 4 km

...

On all sides the city and Avacha Bay (Bay) is surrounded by relatively high mountains, including many volcanoes, such as this one - Mutnovsky volcano.

From the north the capital of Kamchatka decorate three volcanoes, which for its proximity to the city called the locals "home»

From left to right: Mount Koryaksky (3456 m), avachinsky (2751 m) and Kozelskiy (2189 m)

Airport Yelizovo is probably the best place to observe them

Hence, the volcano overlooking Koryaksky no worse than from the monastery of Khor Virap Armenia Ararat (Agryr-dag).

Yet first I propose to explore the capital of Kamchatka Territory - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The town lies on the north shore without doubt the most beautiful bays in the world - Avachinskaya. Locals proudly say that in Avacha Bay can accommodate the whole (that is, in general the whole) a fleet of the world - as a commercial and military.

Unfortunately, the city can not boast of even the small waterfront. The banks of the most beautiful bays in the world, actually turned into a cesspool.

Here and there you can "enjoy" the ruins of the ship that enterprising locals cut into the metal above the waterline. That is below one, by and large, not interested.
