Dog hitchhiker

In the "first life" of this dog, half-breed Kelpie and healer named Tally Ho. Its owner, by the name of Colonel Cummings, brought him to an Australian town Dampierre.

In Dampier life paths colonel and dogs diverged.

Tully loved roads and cars. And he loved to travel in cars on the roads. In Dampier, he devoted himself entirely to this passion, and quickly met a truck driver named John.

John chose his new dog owner, changed his name to Tally Ho nickname "Red Dog" and began to travel with him on the roads of Western Australia.

Together they lived a few happy - to think - years. And then one day, a sad death in 1975, John crashed on a motorcycle. The dog did not understand what happened to his master ... In search of him, he began hitchhiking - one. He ran across the road in front of trucks and buses, sit in front of stopped the car and waited for him to open the door. Do not hesitate to jump into the cockpit. I went as thought fit. After some time made it clear that to stop. Exit, then "caught" a new ride to. And so it went on for months ... years.

At the same time, despite the fact that in his travels the dog went for hundreds of kilometers, he always came back to Dampier.

Red Dog has become a celebrity mascot local hard workers - miners and drivers. It was believed that the meeting with Red brings good luck.

He was accepted as a member of the trade union of transport workers in Australia, and paid for his membership dues. He had his own bank account.

Once the "brand new" driver, who did not know about the local legend, do not let the dog on the bus, and to protest the passengers had left him.

Since the death of John took 4 years, during which Red Dog never ceased to travel on Australian roads. Who knows, maybe all these years he had hoped to finally see the face of his beloved master?

Maybe he forgot to John as he forgot to Cummings, and just his whole life has been an endless road, and it could not exist except in the way and are constantly in search of something? This, of course, anyone know it was not meant to be.

Red Dog died at the ninth year of his life, in 1979, poisoned bait with strychnine.
Fellow truckers have collected money and have established a monument to him at the entrance to the city of Dampierre, an inscription which reads:

Redhead CSP,
Pilbara Wanderer,
Dead November 21, 1979.
From many friends, acquired during many travels.
