Archaeologists have discovered the world's oldest lunar calendar

Archaeologists believe they have discovered the world's oldest calendar in a field in Scotland. A group of 12 wells and has recently been found during excavations in Aberdeenshire, are, according to scientists, the moon phase simulation method that allows you to track lunar months during the year.

Researchers from the University of Birmingham now believe that this finding was created about 10,000 years ago, which pushes the earliest date in the preceding calendar year 5000.

Created in the Mesolithic period, this calendar is the work of the hands of hunters and gatherers. It was excavated between 2004 and 2006, but scientists could not understand why were these pits.

For the first time this place was discovered during aerial photography of the Royal Commission on ancient and historical monuments in Scotland.
