Last week, French archaeologists in the river bed of the Rhone, near the town of Arles, was made a sensational discovery. Found a bust of Gaius Julius Caesar. Scientists believe that this is the only lifetime portrait, in contrast to all hitherto known images of the head of Caesar, which were created at a later time. The surprise was that the commander and the emperor looks different than we imagined.
This is the oldest of all the images of the legendary Julius Caesar, which has survived to the present day.
