Gordon Brown: Europe needs a common energy policy towards Russia

European countries should develop a common energy policy and avoid dependence on Russia. This opinion was expressed by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

According to him, the EU "should be calculated on the combined efforts, rather than trying to achieve unilateral agreements with Russia," reports Associated Press. "Without urgent action we risk in the energy dependence of the less stable and reliable partners", - said Gordon Brown.

Earlier today it was announced that the British Prime Minister is going to put pressure on European leaders, in order to increase funding for energy projects in the Caspian region, which would reduce its dependence on Russian oil and gas and transportation systems.
