This artist picked up a shirt, paint and 11 patches of 7 cm wide. The result is beyond praise!
A month ago, I ordered a white shirt from an online store. The idea of buying things online is pretty good. Especially if you are a mother on maternity leave and it is difficult for you to make time for shopping. However, there is always a risk that the skill of the photographer will be many times higher than the skill of the designer or tailor. It happened in my case as well.
Once in refreshment In front of the mirror, I knew immediately that I would not wear it, very much like a medical gown.
It was made of natural linen, and I love it. Therefore, instead of throwing or putting the unwanted thing in the far corner of the closet, I decided on a creative experiment. Let me tell you right away: what I did in the end delighted all my friends.
For a long time, I dreamed of trying to play with colors, namely, to learn how to paint things in practice. The presence of a small supply of paints and this undesirable shirt prompted me to rework. And in addition, I decided to pursue another dream and try to work with him. borough.

Progress of work
- Before the start of work, the table was covered with film, and the sore shirt in a basin with warm water. You will need 5 different paints for cold dyeing fabric, which must be diluted with water in disposable containers.
I chose the following colors for myself: dark brown, olive green, green turquoise and the last container is a mixture of turquoise blue and blue.
- Next, you need to get a shirt from the basin behind the collar so that when pressed, you get a tourniquet along the length of the entire shirt (with pressed sleeves). In this position, the shirt should be spread out along the entire length so that its parts fall into containers where colors are mixed. After that, you need to thoroughly rinse the shirt to clean water and hang it to dry. Next, we move on to the experiment in the borough technique. For him, you will need cotton flaps with a width of 70 centimeters of different lengths. I used a piece of old sheet and a harvested cloth (something like a tight gauze). Soak the fabric in water, by analogy with a shirt, squeeze and take turns dipping into paint.
The fabric in the photo moves first into a lighter paint, then into a darker one. You need to start with light, so as not to wash your hands again and not to point dark spots of paint on light-colored fabric with your fingers. So between the containers, the fabric is painted with a gradient effect. With a shirt when coloring you need to do the same as with flaps.
- Painted fabric for decor in the technique of "borough" you need to carefully get out of containers with paint and thoroughly rinse in running water. Then we move on to another interesting color option. For that, you need a paint thickener. I used guar gum, but you can take any other thickener (gelatin or starch).
Next, gum must be poured into containers and thoroughly stirred until a mass with a thick jelly consistency is obtained. After that, with the help of a brush, you need to walk well through all the patches.
After finishing the painting, the fabric should be rinsed again and hung in the fresh air until completely dry.
- After the shirt and flaps are dry, they should be well ironed with an iron.
- Then we move on to dressing. They need to be cut into strips 3-7 cm wide of arbitrary length. Here it is important to properly remove scraps of thread and make something like a short flat fringe.
- Arbitrarily spread the strips of fabric on your shirt and accept them.
- And finally, you need to fasten patches with threads of muline. It only sounds serious - borough, but in fact, a regular stove. All you need to do is move back and forth along the lobe and transverse directions of the thread and try not to tighten the fabric.
- That's what I ended up with.
