Protopriest Andrei Tkachev’s Sermon on Women’s Beauty
Women’s beauty is a gift, but it often becomes a burden. Many waste it in vain, and some ruin their lives because of it. This is the kind of woman I read about. Sermons of Archpriest Andrei Tkachev.
Today's edition. "Site" He shares with you the thoughts of the archpriest about female beauty and repentance.
Protopriest Andrei Tkachev claims that it is difficult for a beautiful woman to be good. He is surrounded by many temptations that can lead him astray and lead to sin. Beautiful women use their beauty to benefit themselves. First of all, the Archpriest told the story of Pelagia, who turned on a sinful path, using her beauty.
Pelageya was born in Syriac Antioch and was very beautiful. The girl enjoyed her beauty, decorated herself with luxurious clothes, gold and jewelry. For this, fans called the girl Margarita, that is, a pearl. It is worth saying that her way of life was far from righteous. She was a frivolous and licentious girl.
One day in Antioch came Nonn, Bishop of Iliopolis, known for his righteousness and wisdom. Once he and the other bishops stood near the temple, a loud crowd followed them. Among people, a young girl stood out: beautiful and immodestly dressed. It was Pelageya. She laughed loudly and the fans watched her.
The bewildered bishops turned their eyes away, but Nonn continued to look after the girl. Nonn then told the bishops, “I have learned much from her.” How much time do you think she spends decorating herself to be more beautiful than other women in the eyes of her fans? At the Last Judgment, God will judge us for her. We, having an immortal Bridegroom in heaven, neglect the state of our soul. What will we bring before Him?
The bishops did not answer him then, but this young girl fell in love with Nonnu. When he came home, he began to pray for the salvation of Pelageya. The following Sunday, Pelageya, drawn by an unknown force, came to the temple. The sermon about the terrible judgment shocked the girl, she was terrified of thoughts about her sinful life. She went to Nonn and said she wanted to be baptized.

She was afraid that the Lord would not forgive her, but the shepherd comforted her and baptized her. Becoming a Christian, Pelageya collected her possessions and brought Nonna. He told her to give everything to the poor. So she did, and then changed into men's clothes and left town. In Jerusalem she received monastic tonsure. She was mistaken for a young man.
She built her own cell on the Mount of Olives and began to live a recluse and lead a harsh monastic life. Everyone considered her a monk Pelagius, a eunuch. Only after his death did it become clear that the monk Pelagius was a woman. So the soul of the prostitute was saved.
There are many useful things to be learned from this story. It shows that even if you choose the wrong path, you can always save your soul. However, it shows how difficult it is for a woman to cope with her beauty and not use it for sinful purposes, as the archpriest says.
This phenomenon will never disappear, it cannot be eradicated completely. There will always be women who use their beauty for selfish purposes. However, you need to understand that everyone can choose for themselves. Beauty does not determine your path, but you choose how to use it.
The Archpriest says that this cannot be completely eradicated, but some lost souls still come to the light. As proof, he cites another parable about Vitali of Alexandria, who saved many prostitutes. Below is a video where you can listen to this story.
Solomon said, “Charity is deceptive, beauty is vain, but a woman who fears God is worthy of praise.” As the archpriest himself says, any beauty will go away, as a withering flower will bow its head and make you sad. Here it is, and here it is not. Only a woman who believes in God is worthy of praise.
This is especially true for modern women. Archpriest says: Modern girls should not only paint their nails and sunbathe in the solarium. They should be working and not be afraid of working at home. It is said of a bad woman that “her feet do not live at home.”
She's bored at home. She wants to go out and run around her girlfriends. For smoking breaks, for coffee there... Hang out. A normal woman at home is like a fish in the water. She's choking outside. She wants to go home, faster, faster.”
In his opinion, a woman should be humble and not show off her beauty. After all, attracting men only by beauty, she will sooner or later remain at the broken trough. All tsars and trinkets do not matter, they only interfere. A real woman should be humble and believe in God.
The archpriest often quotes the book of Isaiah. Isaiah says, “If you do not change, all these things will be removed from you: you will remain without a husband, and you will sit on the earth and howl, for the time of God’s wrath has come.”
So that the wrath of God may not come, both men and women, let us pray, rectify and be purified, and come diligently to the temple of God and help those whom we can help.
And here's the video we talked about. Here you can. listen to Andrei Tkachev's sermon The beauty of women.

The contradictory teachings of the archpriest often cause readers a justified desire to argue with his conclusions. We cannot say that we agree with everything, because some thoughts sound rather strange and unfounded. But there is some truth in them, too. Either way, it's good food for the mind. We hope you draw your own conclusions from all this.
Archpriest says that beauty is not the main thing in a woman. What then? Recently we wrote that women are really attracted to men.
Here is what Mikhail Labkovsky said about the beauty and attractiveness of women.
