There are many saints who became famous for their great deeds and forever entered history. They are an example of true faith for all Christians. That is why we still honor their memory and offer them prayers. So today, June 19, we celebrate the day of remembrance of the great miracle-worker St. Bessarion of Egypt.

"Site" He will tell you about the life of the saint and what is forbidden on this day.

The Monk Vissarion, an Egyptian by birth, in his youth decided to devote his life to the teaching of Christ. He was baptized at a young age and since then led a strict life, trying to preserve the grace given to him.

The monk wanted to get acquainted with the monastic life, so he traveled to the holy places: he was in Jerusalem, visited the Monk Gerasimos in the Jordan desert, learning their wisdom. Vissarion took a vow of silence, ate once a week (sometimes forgot about food for 40 days) and led an ascetic lifestyle.

Once the monk stood still for 40 days and 40 nights, immersed in prayer. All these days he spent without sleep, food or water. For his exploits and sincere faith, the monk received the gift of a miracle worker.

History knows many of his miracles: when the disciple of Vissarion on the way exhausted from thirst, he transformed bitter water into drinking water; after his prayer, the Lord sent rain to the earth. He cast out demons in one word and could cross rivers like dry land.

Despite all these miracles, the humility of the wonderworker did not shake at all. He continued to do good things, but in a way that avoided fame. I slept in the open air, only standing or sitting. He spent most of his life in prayer. Having lived to a very old age, he peacefully departed to the Lord. And now the faithful honor his memory.
