And her revenge was done, horribly and mercilessly. As a ruler, Olga was merciful and just: she rewarded good laity and inspired fear of enemies. She was very generous to the poor and the unhappy.

Legend has it that the emperor of Constantinople liked Olga so much that he wanted to marry her. However, Olga was not interested in this marriage, so she told the emperor that since he was a Christian and she was a pagan, there could be no marriage between them. Then Olga was baptized, the emperor himself became a receiver.

When he asked for her hand again, Olga replied that she was now his goddaughter and could not marry him. The emperor was so impressed by her wisdom and reason that he generously gifted the woman.

Olga fulfilled her dream by becoming a true Christian. He wanted to bring true faith to his people. Returning to Kiev, she begins her apostolic ministry. The princess builds temples, destroys pagan symbols and erects crosses. Of course, people started to resist it.

All her life, the princess defended Christianity, trying to direct the pagans on the right path, but the number of detractors was too large. Even Svyatoslav’s son did not share his mother’s views. The princess prayed for her son, for her people, but she could not fulfill her desire to establish a metropolis in Kiev.

In recent years, Olga had to hide in order not to cause a storm of objections. The princess secretly kept a priest by her side. The only thing Olga asked her son in the last years of her life was for him to bury her according to the Christian rite. The son promised to do everything and kept his word. Confessing and taking communion, the holy princess Olga went to another world in 969.

Everyone who came to Olga’s tomb with requests always got what they wanted. Many even said that from the relics of the saint radiates glow. During her lifetime, Olga made many prophecies, and all of them came true. And soon her main desire came true - the light of Christ rose over Russia.
