What will help to instantly repair the burned LED light bulb
Due to its economy and the constant decrease in prices, LED lamps have recently become the most widespread. If such a light bulb fails, do not rush to throw it out. Repair of LED lamps is not easy and in most cases will return the burnt out device to life.
Sometimes it is even faster and easier than going to the store and changing the light bulb. You will need only a soldering iron and the most elementary skills of soldering.
To begin with, we will understand what parts the LED lamp consists of. Starting from the base, it will be: a polymer base of the basement, a driver, a radiator, a board with diodes and a light-scattering bulb made of matte plastic.
To reach the board with LEDs, walk with a knife through the gap between the lens and the middle part of the lamp. They are connected by a sealant, which will not exert much resistance.
Next, remove the lens and carefully examine the LEDs. One or more of them will show signs of damage (black dots). When burned diodes break the chain, the rest also stop shining, as the diodes in the circuit are usually connected in series.
Now that faulty diodes have been identified, there are two ways to further repair. The first and more complex: separate the board from the case, solder out damaged diodes and replace them with similar ones. The second and simpler: shorten the spoiled diodes, thereby closing the chain.
Armed with a knife or a screwdriver. Remove them faulty LEDs, baring the contact areas below them.
Warm up the contacts with a soldering iron sting. Put flux on them. Then apply a drop of solder on top to connect the contacts and close the chain.
Now we need to turn the light bulb on. If done correctly, the remaining LEDs will glow. It remains to return the plastic diffuser to its place, and the light bulb can be used again.
If you can’t bring the lamp back to life, unleash your imagination and turn it into a Christmas ball, penguin, snowman or other fairy-tale characters. As the original decoration of the Christmas tree, it will give joy and festive mood to your family.
The method of repair described in the article is simple, but not without drawbacks. Eliminating one or more diodes from the circuit increases the load on the driver and reduces its service life. But as an alternative to discarding it has every right to exist.
