An old house in a village that is a hundred or more years old, sometimes it is better not to try to improve. Yes, it looks rather flimsy, in winter it seems to be cold, only a huge oven can save it. Pro
wood-floor It does not come at all - it seems that in the cold you will only walk in warm slippers.

Warm floor in a wooden house Old
wooden-house We decided to try it out. It looks so pretty, of course, but the walls are flat, the roof is intact - what else is needed? The windows were insulated in the old-fashioned way: a layer of cotton was put inside the frame, the cracks were glued with paper tape, and they stopped there. Gas is still carried out only in the spring. Hoped for a stove, heaters and a couple of Chinese electric sheets.
We thought that in the cold we would freeze to the floor, how could the corners be heated? However, the fears were premature. In fact, we did not use the heaters, and the sheets were useful only a couple of times - we waited for the oven to warm up. You can’t say it’s hot, but it’s comfortable. And most importantly, the floor is not cold at all.
No matter what anyone said, our ancestors knew. Empirically, however, solutions have been found. It is important to understand how this wooden house works. Old village houses were put on stones, without foundations. The padlock, which is often mentioned in fairy tales, covers the walls outside, so the subfloor rarely freezes.
Warm floor in a wooden house In summer, the subfloor is ventilated through the outlet, and for the winter they are closed. So in the subfield there is a special microclimate. What does it have to do with the underfloor, you honestly ask? And the connection is the most direct.
Floorboards They are thick and tightly fitted, the flea will not get through, but near the blown oven we noticed a cat's manhole.
The same thing happened at the opposite wall. At first we thought they were made for cats, so they could go down to the basement and hunt for mice. But it's still a secondary function. We realized this when we began to actively burn the stove. The fact is that the blower in the furnace is made almost at the level of the floor, and next to it the same outlet.
When we drown the stove, it literally sucks cool air from the underfloor (and for the hood is better, because the temperature difference is greater). At the same time, the cat manhole on the other side passes warm air from the hut into the subfloor. From this there is always dry and the temperature is above zero. And on the street — hello, please! — minus 30!
From where.
flooringGuys! The stove was finished sinking, the holes were covered, the house is warm, the subfield is dry and cool, Barsik is happy, because the whole basement is at his disposal, and we are comfortable and cozy! By the way, our neighbors who bought a similar house nearby, all these holes were sealed, circulated and their floor is cold, and the bottom is damp. And for wooden supports it is not good anywhere.
