Fasting helps in diabetes, both the first and second type
Patients with diabetes are recommended post
American scientists from the University of southern California studied the effect of fasting, try a low-calorie diet (FMD) on mice.
According to their findings, people with diabetes should restrict their usual food, at least during five days per month.
The first day they are allowed to eat only 1090 calories, and over the next four days should be limited to only 725 calories per day.
Anyway, mouse-diabetics, "planted" on vegetable diet for 4 days a week, showed a restoration of insulin production by the pancreas to the level of healthy mice. They also decreased insulin resistance and mice showed stable levels of glucose in the blood even in the later stages of the disease.
Scientists found that adult mice with diabetes when they were kept on a low calorie diet activated the genes that are usually active in pancreatic cells of mice embryos. This increased the production of a key protein and contributed to the creation of new, healthy cells that produce insulin.
The study of cultures of pancreatic cells from human donors showed that in cells of patients with type I diabetes nutrients that mimic starvation, has also increased the production of insulin.
The results indicate that the transition from time to time on a low calorie diet can alleviate the course of the disease in people with diabetes in both the first and second type.
Professor Valter Longo, who led the research, expressed hope that people with diabetes could one day be treated with a simple post, keeping it only a few days each month. The rest of the time you can eat in a normal mode, while receiving the positive results, consisting in the normalization of blood sugar due to the production of normal levels of insulin and increase susceptibility to it.
P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
