In Las Vegas begins testing self-driving minibuses
In Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) will start a two-week trial of small buses equipped with an autopilot system.
The tests will involve vehicles called Arma, created by the French company Navya. These minibuses can carry 12 passengers. A fully electric drive is used.
The vehicles are equipped with cameras, a high-precision GPS receiver and lidars. Buses are able to move completely independently, without the participation of the driver.
As part of the trials, Arma cars will carry passengers for free from 10:00 to 18:00 on Fremont Street, one of the most famous streets in Las Vegas. The speed of buses during the tests will not exceed 20 km / h, although theoretically such vehicles can move at a speed of more than 40 km / h.
If the trial proves successful, Arma’s self-driving buses could start operating in Las Vegas on a permanent basis as early as the summer or early fall. published
