Russia will increase the capacity of renewable energy by the end of 2021 3.9%

The total installed capacity of renewable energy sources Russia will grow by 3.9%, or 2 GW — 53 GW by the end of 2021, it said in a midterm report by the IEA on renewable energy.

The total installed capacity of hydropower will increase by 2.2% from 51 GW in 2015 to 52.1 GW in 2021. According to the IEA, the share of RES in total energy potential of Russia is 18%. While hydropower accounts for more than 98% of renewable energy of Russia. IEA expects main growth of renewable energy in Russia will be achieved through capacity hydroelectric power station — more than 1 GW by the end of 2021. Solar power generation in Russia, according to the IEA, will increase seven — fold from 0.1 GW to 0.7 GW, while the capacity of wind energy will increase two times, from 0,1 GW to 0.2 GW.

Electricity production from renewable energy sources in Russia will grow by 2.7% — from 191 TWh in 2015 to 193 TWh by the end of 2021. In China, the capacity of renewable energy over the same period will grow by 60%, say experts of the Agency. published
