German postal company Deutsche Post (DP) has decided to do without assistance and on their own to design and start production of electric trucks for parcel delivery. They have already appeared on the roads of some cities of Germany.

The postal company moved into automobile production is not a good life. According to its representatives, the giants of the German automotive industry was not undertaken for the production of electric trucks to Deutsche Post, citing too small by their standards party. In turn, the Volkswagen, whose cars still carry mail for the DP, expressed disappointment at the fact that Post have not addressed in their Department with the request to create something similar. "I'm annoyed beyond measure," said a VW Executive officer Matthias Mueller.

Chagrin Muller can understand such a move permanent customer puts VW in the most favorable light: firm parcel could something that was not capable of the giant automobile industry — fast to develop and cheap to create a dedicated electric vehicle.

Deutsche Post came to the very pragmatic and focused on important parameters, discarding the husks and marketing luxury. Trucks are designed to work for at least 16 years, 6 days a week 10 hours a day. The most reliable parts, for example, doors that open and close 200 times a day. "We didn't have to spend billions on development and production. You won't believe how cheap to make a electric vehicle," said a member of the Board of Directors of DP jürgen Gerdes. The cost of operation is less than a similar truck on fossil fuels.

Progress in production allowed BY Deutsche Post, Google and some start-UPS begin designing, building and testing concept cars, without hiring thousands of engineers and billions without investing in machines and factories. This is due to the separation of suppliers from producers to cut costs during the crisis of 2009-09. Today, 80% of car parts are produced independent of the major concerns of the company, and companies like DP can contact them directly. The German postal service has not yet decided whether it will become to sell their electrogrooving third-party buyers. This will be known until the end of 2016.

Another innovation Deutsche Post was robots that help postmen in their hard work. In some offices companies are already working self-propelled carts, which accompany postmen and transported parcels. They move or stop together with the postman, in response to his actions. published
