Ant-lion
The name ant-lion has got through its larva is a voracious predator with powerful jaws. Became famous thanks to an original method of hunting – with the help of a sand pit.
The larva digs a hole in sandy soil. When the hole is approaching the insect, the larva throws in the sand or the ground until I knocked into a pit trap. The insect tries to escape, but the shifting ground is down, sucked down, GD is, clicking of the jaw. If to escape almost succeeds, ant-lion throws another dose of sand. All ends with the fact that the insect slides down from the center. And then eaten by a monstrous predator
The remaining chitin spits back. Something similar can be seen in the movie "Enemy mine" or anywhere else, this method of hunting is quite common in movies and computer games. But there are usually types are dealing with a giant "lions". But it is quite possible to understand what is happening to the ant that fell in such a trap. An adult ant-lion is very similar to the dragonfly, however, has longer antennae. Them lions from dragonflies and distinguished. However, to see the flying city can be rare, because they fly mostly in the night and that is bad. Yes, and, in General, do not look for meeting with them. They can bite if you sit on you.
In "dragonfly", "the lion" turns after two or three years of life in a larval state. Adults but only gets to leave offspring and die. Found throughout Europe, except Scandinavia, the Pyrenees and the UK. Prefers arid areas, where is full of sand. Favorite place – the Balkan Peninsula.
