Personal environmental monitor for the iPhone

A set of interchangeable sensors from the company Lapka Electronics LCC makes of smart phone personal ecological station, monitor, provide information about the state of the environment, and its impact on human rights.

In a set of four independent peripheral devices, each of which has a narrow specialization. They are able to identify and analyze temperature and humidity, radiation and electromagnetic radiation, as well as the composition of the food, whether it is useful, and whether it can be considered organic.

Besides that the set is able to collect and analyze data about the state of the environment, it just looks great. The sensors are made of wood and plastic, as they say, it's nice to take in hand.

"Since we are talking about health and environmental product, we used organic materials such as wood and plastic "under ivory", as its appearance does not deteriorate with time. The device should be personal, a personal talisman," says Lapka creative Director Vadik Marmeladov. "Our goal was to create a similar design accessory for iPhone, but we have not tried to make a copy. All our designs are simple, attention to detail and quality. They are based on the philosophy and preferences of the Apple, but we shouldn't copy shiny case iPhone to better match its aesthetics".

Each of peripheral devices made in the same style, different tasks and principles of work. For example, to check food uses a steel probe that determines the presence and concentration of nitrates commonly used in inorganic fertilizers.

It is interesting how the designers Lapka have decided to provide the user with measurement results. Not all people know the units of measurement and allowable values of certain parameters. Therefore, the results are presented in two levels.

The first – the usual formal testimony, letters and numbers, such as the values of background radiation or ambient air temperature.

The second level is an abstract visualisation of information. Vadik Marmeladov compares it with Lumiere. On the screen the growth of the danger to humans increases the intensity of red tones and spots. The ecological, reflecting the results of measurements of the state of the environment, you can save and send to friends. It can be viewed without special means like you would a normal image.

While the environmental monitor from Lapka in a state of prototype. Its mass production – the question of the near future. The developers plan to release a set of four sensors on the market in December for about $220.

After the start of sales Lapka, most likely, will be engaged in the development and manufacture of peripheral devices for iPhone other areas, such as allergen sensor, glucometer, blood pressure monitor, oscilloscope, diagnosis device for a vehicle and a fitness tracker.
