Environmental zones in Germany

In Germany there are three ecological zones in Berlin, Cologne and Hanover. These environmental zones are designated by special road signs.

B Germany's entry in the historical centres of some cities is only available to cars with environmental plaque. There are 3 grade of the plaques: red, yellow and green. Red and yellow relate only car with a diesel engine. Petrol at green. The map shows in what cities and what plaques you can enter.

Cars without an environmental sticker are not allowed into the green zone. In case of violation face fines of € 40, and even in that case, if the vehicle meets environmental standards for toxicity. This also applies to all vehicles registered in foreign countries.

Car entering ecozone must have a label (access routes) on the windshield indicating the standard content of harmful substances, to which the car meets. Sticker looks like a round red, yellow or green in color, a large black figure inside and a white box for the vehicle number (usually fits from the hand).

Stickers are issued by the registration Authority, technical supervision and authorized workshops. These rules are valid for foreign cars. To purchase the stickers required to present a "Certificate o registration" in the car. Additionally (but not necessarily) may be brought a certificate from the car manufacturer or a technical certification Agency concerning the rule's emission for the vehicle.
