The castle is named in honor of Columbus

The legendary Christopher: and in honor of the 500th anniversary of the momentous day for America in 1994 in the town of Benalmadena ended with the construction of the castle Colomares.

Interestingly, the Colomares castle "distinguished" in two nominations in the Guinness Book of records: as the world's largest Columbus monument (the castle area 1500 sq. m.), and the award was given to the world's smallest chapel, which is located on the territory of Colomares (it has an area of 1.96 sq. m.)
