Scientists have figured out how much meat you need to eat man
With age human body tend to lose muscle mass, but now scientists have discovered a method that will help to slow down this process.
The main purpose of the study, which was conducted by experts at McMaster University (Exercise Mеtabolism Rеsearch Group), was the establishment of minimum standards of consumption of meat depending on the amount of protein needed to maintain muscle mass in middle-aged men.
Scientists measured the muscle protein synthesis, which is needed for growth, repair and maintenance of skeletal muscle from middle-aged men, who train in the gym.
The result was that the amount of meat that men want to optimally maintain their muscle mass two times more, compared with the previously recommended portions.
"Until now, experts claimed that man must eat at least 80 grams of meat per meal to ensure the normal protein in the body," said Dr. Stuart Phillips (Stuart Phillips), author and Director of research.
"However, the results of our work show that the rate of meat consumption for middle-aged men should be increased due to the fact that the body needs more protein to maintain muscle mass. Our data will help to slow down the loss of muscle mass in elderly men," he added.
