Unusual robot-monkey to help in emergency situations Bashny.Net

Experts of the jet propulsion Laboratory, research center, NASA made a robot monkey. Named RoboSimian, the robot has four limbs, the ends of which are installed manipulators with three "fingers". This gives you the ability to cope e.g. with construction tools such as a screwdriver.





Interestingly, the robot has no front or back sides, so that it can pivot to change direction. Some of the movements the robot performs autonomously, but for the most part it is controlled by the operator.



Robot created for a contest of the Agency for future defence research development USA, which will be held at the end of this year. In the competition robots must show their abilities in different emergency situations, for example, in conditions close to the situation at the Fukushima nuclear power plant after the accident. The robots require to possess a conventional construction tools.
