Micro-wind turbines will charge your mobile phones

Employees of the University of Texas at Arlington Smith Rao and J.-C. Chiao started working on project using miniature wind generators. The scope of the blades of one wind turbine was only 1.8 mm, i.e. on a single rice grain can accommodate a dozen such devices. The modular layout will be possible to build entire "farm" of the microgenerator.

Hundreds of windmills can generate electricity, which is enough to charge, say, a mobile device or tablet. Used for cooking are solid Nickel alloy, which guarantees resistance to deformation when a strong gust of wind and the ingress of small particles of dirt.

As the developers say, to put a modular generator can be on the sleeve of a jacket or coat. At ordinary walking and waving their arms the waves of the wind will be sufficient to bring the blades of the miniature mills and begin to receive energy for recharging the battery.

A demonstration of this device were performed in the laboratory of Chao in September 2013. Inspired by the success researchers claim that micro-vetrogeneratory will be able in the future to be used on the walls of the houses, as additional sources of "green" energy.
