Kenya is going solar energy

The East African state announced its ambitious plans. Not having access to water and not counting on expensive hydroelectric power, Kenya will use alternative sources, first solar. This project will give soon — before the end of 2014, half of the money invested by the state, the rest — private investors.

Kenya's plan to build nine solar power plants, each of which will cost 1.2 billion dollars —and this is the initial stage. In 2011, Kenya opened a plant for the manufacturing of panels, and this serves as the impetus for the development of the industry. Experts have predicted Kenya's strong capacity in this sector and raising the standard of living of the population of the country in General. This means that residents will no longer have problems with electricity.

In addition, the commissioning of the solar farms will affect the price of electricity —it should drop around 80%. According to estimates, 2-3 years, more than 50% of electricity in Kenya will be generated by photovoltaic power plants.
