Mystical stone balls found in Costa Rica Bashny.Net

Costa Rica- a tiny country in Central America, famous for the fact that for the second year in a row occupies the first place in the ranking of the happiest countries in the world. It was here in 1930 it was discovered the mysterious prehistoric stone balls, the purpose of which scholars debate to this day.



The miracle balls was found by employees of the company United Fruit Company. Clearing the place in the jungle in order to organize banana plantation, they found in the Bush on a large polished stone sphere. Then nobody gave importance to the discovery, and soon the balls "dismantled" as decorations for lawns around government buildings, houses of wealthy citizens and leaders of the fruit company.

 



Some balls were damaged in shipping, some are broken "gold diggers". By the time when balls interested the government of Costa Rica, dozens of them have already been destroyed. Quest for the stones continued during the following decades, they were found about three hundred. They are all different sizes: some very tiny (up to several centimeters in diameter), others huge (up to 2 meters in diameter and weighing up to 15 tons). Some of the stones remained on the same places where they were discovered, but many had to move, so they will not suffer from erosion, fires and vandalism. Today they can be seen not only in museums of Costa Rica, but also in exhibition halls of Washington and Cambridge.

 



The researchers found that some of the stone balls was made around 600 BC, the majority dated between ad 1000 until the Spanish conquest. Rather difficult to install, the only thing not subject to doubt: the creators of these artifacts were able to perfectly Polish the stone, because all the balls, without exception, perfectly smooth.

 



About the purpose of the stones was put forward many hypotheses: some scientists believe that these balls were on the lost continent of Atlantis, while others associate their appearance with Stonehenge, others do believe that they come from the island of the Holy Easter. Of course, there are more fantastic theory that the stones left to us by alien visitors. Today all the stones are under UNESCO protection, they are related to the number of attractions that make up the cultural heritage of mankind.
