Chinese engineers are closer to creating devices based on “liquid” technologies

To understand what we are talking about, you should recall the movie “Terminator 2”, in which the cyborg killer T-1000 operates. Thanks to the liquid metal base, it is easily transformed into any object and is practically not subject to mechanical influences.
A group of Chinese engineers from Xinhua University (Beijing) began to develop devices similar to the T-1000. As a basis, an alloy of gallium, indium and selenium is used, having a melting point of about 10 ° C. It is currently used to cool microprocessors and in printing devices.

Electrostatic forces and surface tension forces are used to move objects from this alloy. The first successes have already been achieved: the liquid metal sphere created by the researchers moves on the surface of the water, transforms into a worm-like form and moves in space. If Chinese engineers succeed, humanity will receive a fundamentally new generation of liquid metal microrobots, which, unlike their Hollywood prototype, will serve for the benefit of people.
