Amazing flying car Terrafugia Transition

The American company Terrafugia has developed and prepared for mass production a lightweight Transition aircraft that not only can fly, but also moves very quickly on the roads. The prototype Transition was presented at the auto show in New York.







In the air, the Transition is capable of accelerating to 185 km / h, cruising speed is 172 km / h, and a flight range of 787 km. The run requires a strip length of 518 m. The salon accommodates two people and a small luggage like a golf bag.







Landing, the aircraft folds its wings and turns into a car, comparable in size to a minibus (length 6 m, width 2.3 m, height 2 m). The Transition has all the necessary lighting equipment, it meets automotive safety requirements due to the presence of crushable zones and airbegs.











The Rotax 912S engine is paired with the CVT and drives the rear wheels. On the road, the creation of Terrafugia is able to accelerate to 105 km / h, consuming an average of 6.7 liters of gasoline per 100 km. It is refueled at a regular gas station, can be stored in a regular garage. The weight of the empty machine is 440 kg, take-off weight is 650 kg.



The Terrafugia Transition costs $279,000. Orders are accepted now, wishing to order a flying car must make an advance payment of $ 10,000. To obtain a permit to fly to the United States, you need to take 20-hour courses.
