The company recently demonstrated the world's first 3D printed wrench made from recycled plastic collected on the southern coast of Alaska. For this decision the company even received an award from the Council for the processing of British Columbia.

As reported ozemle.net in order to enable the collection of plastic waste as many people as possible, the company has launched a program of "Social plastic", participating in which socially vulnerable people can improve their financial position.

The collected plastic is transported to the University of British Columbia (UBC) where it is processed and transformed into a thin filament used for 3D printing. Further, the coil received a plastic filament is delivered to the company's head office, where it on a 3D printer manufactured in small grey wrench.

The company recently completed a pilot project "3D printing from ocean plastic". According to co-founder of The Plastic Bank, Sean Francona, this project was a huge step forward in the mission to ensure poor people a sustainable source of income that contributes to reducing plastic waste in the world and preserve the environment.
