Tram RUSSIA ONE – a new stage in the development of green transport

On July 9, at the International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM-2014 in Yekaterinburg, the booth of the prototype of the RUSSIA ONE tram, a joint project of OKB Atom and UralTransMash, was opened.

If we talk about the environmental friendliness of urban public transport, this tram will be the first tram manufactured in Russia, which you can be proud of.

The main advantage of the tram is completely domestic production, ranging from design to development and implementation. Foreign only door mechanisms and harmonica. In the future, foreign parts will be removed as much as possible.

One of the main tasks of the R1 project is to change the attitude of city residents to the very idea of public transport, increase its attractiveness, demonstrate new capacities of Russian transport engineering.

It's completely low-floor. Three-section building Russia One is made of removable panels of composite glass. The salon is equipped with LED lighting, chairs and sofas are covered with fabric with felt, the doors open at the request of the passenger and are equipped with sensors that respond to the obstacle, that is, they will never pinch the passenger running into the cabin. The developers have provided maximum comfort on the trip: handrails with antibacterial coating, air conditioning, acoustic system: in the morning the tram will sound energetic music, and in the evening – slower, soothing. Everything is done to ensure that the tram improves the urban space and encourages citizens to use this type of transport more.

At the stand is not a layout, but a full-fledged prototype. That is, at least now it can be taken and put on the rails.

The appearance of the first serial samples is expected in the autumn, then tests will begin to launch next year. The developers said that the changes will be no more than 10%.
The tram is really beautiful. The body is perfectly smooth, which is made of composite glass panels. The stitches are almost invisible. All panels can be easily removed and replaced if necessary. The gaps between the glass panels are covered with black sealant.

The new tram has an amazing cabin. Now the driver can feel like a crane ) View 180 degrees. The designers managed to reduce the lower “dead zone” by about 10-15%. Such a tram will be safer, since some pedestrians run over when they bypass the tram in front and are not visible.

The developers jokingly call the new tram iPhone on the rails. There will be WiFi and even charging for iPhone in the driver’s cab.

The new tram can travel up to 50 km on batteries. This means that it can be used as a commuter train.

The exact price is not yet available, but the RUSSIA ONE will cost around €1 million. If you take, for example, a similar three-section from Pesa, which already drives around Moscow, it costs around €2 million. That is, our R1, with similar characteristics, will cost twice as much. And that's good.

Municipalities will also have the opportunity to buy cars for leasing. This will have a very positive impact on planning. Omsk will just lease trams like this.

The first such trams should appear in Yekaterinburg, then in Omsk. Next in line is Moscow, and then the whole world.

When? Uralvagonzavod promises to conquer Russia by 2017, when many cities are reconstructing their transport systems for the World Cup.
