Architectural Bureau Urko Sanchez Architects has constructed a private residence on Lamu island in Kenya. The building is located on a seafront plot, surrounded by mangroves. The architects have set ourselves the task to keep intact all the large trees that largely determined the shape of the object — it is only those plots that were not occupied by mangroves. In the construction used only manual labor as well as materials of local production. Given the generosity of the sun in these parts, the developers involved in the project as solar water heaters and solar panels providing electricity to the house.
