One-third of demand in Spain covers renewable energy
Spain announced the results of July for the generation of electricity. Thus, 38% of electricity demand covered by wind and solar generation.
Last month's total low-carbon sources of electricity production generated more than 55% of the electricity consumed in Spain. Almost 30% of the total electricity consumption last month was generated from wind power, about 4% developed photovoltaic and concentration solar power plant. The production of electricity at nuclear power plants of Spain amounted to about 18% of the total demand of the country. Share of output for wind and solar power plants in Spain in July was significantly higher than the average output during the first six months of this year.
As a result of increasing electricity generation based on renewable energy sources, greenhouse gas emissions in the Spanish Peninsula fell 23.1 % to 61400 thousand tons per year in recent years.
Since 1998, the Spanish government actively supports renewable energy projects. For these purposes from the budget allocated about 56 billion euros in subsidies.
