Ex-Tesla and NASA engineers showed their vision of the smart lamps
Last year one of the engineers Tesla left the company to start their own business. So there was a Stack company, released the "highly intelligent" light bulb Alba.
At the beginning of 2013, the Tesla engineer Neil Joseph wondered why office lighting operates at full capacity when the sun's rays penetrate freely into the room through the window. An Internet search is smart, responds to the natural light of the lamp did not give the expected results. Then enterprising Joseph decided to take matters into their own hands and create a truly smart bulb. A few months later, his idea turned into a real product.
Alba in Italian language means "sunrise". New smart light bulb works in offline mode, adjusting outgoing luminous flux depending on the natural ambient light and daily habits of the user. Joseph believes that Alba represents a new generation of more advanced bulbs compared to the Philips Hue and LIFX. The last smarter than usual lamps, they could sync to a smartphone app, to glow to the beat of the music, but do not reach the level of Nest thermostats or Google Maps, Wired reports. In other words: they are connected, but don't have feedback.
Led light bulb Alba, the development of which also involved a former employee of NASA Jovi Gacusan equipped with motion sensors, lighting and presence. One such Alba uses 60-80% less energy than traditional led bulb.
As the Nest thermostat, Alba uses algorithms and learns the habits of its owner. For example, in the evening, the system can light the way to bed or in the bathroom. In the morning, the light bulb shines a cool bluish tones, helping the body to Wake up. During the day the light becomes brighter and warmer. App Stack lets you configure the settings of the lamp and to control its work.
The creators of Alba claim that do not collect personal data of users. They also would like to establish a cooperation with companies producing devices associated with a sleep monitoring, for example, a smart bed. In the Stack I hope that one day they will be able to create a smart home with a focus on health and unprecedented comfort.
Set of two Alba bulbs costs $ 150.
