The center for the study of eco-sustainable construction in Australia
The center for the study of eco-sustainable construction (Sustainable Buildings Research Centre SBRC) opened at the University in the Australian city of Wollongong (Wollongong), New South Wales. The centre aims to conduct scientific and applied research in this key area, at the same time providing a construction business in Australia by qualified personnel. Of course, building such a center must meet the highest criteria of eco-sustainability: it is already a maximum "six star" by the national rating system, and it is planned that the building will be the first on the continent, which will be evaluated according to the most rigid system of Living Building Challenge.
The main pride of the designers is a solar power plant, the total capacity is equal to 150 kW: 120 kW on the roof of 30 kW and on an inclined North wall (let us not forget that this building is located South of the equator). Installation is not easy to supply electricity to the buildings and to sell the surplus in the network: it will be tested in different operating modes, in particular, will work out optimal schedules and methods of cleaning the panels of dust and dirt.
