Blog content: where to start? - Part 3

So, we talked about the choice of blog topics, selected a platform for its placement. It’s time to talk about content or simply talk about how and how to fill this blog. Let's go!

When writing large posts, try to divide them into paragraphs so that the text is visually easier to perceive. Some texts will be useful to divide by item or create lists. This is not just about recipes and lessons.

A very important point: be literate, follow the punctuation and vocabulary that you use.I can advise an excellent site where you can check the text for errors, both grammatical, lexical and punctuation - spelling.ru. After I have written a blog post, I send it through the spelling. Then I’ll pick up the mistakes and points, if any. Next, again, be sure to read, as no site will fully bring your text to mind. If I feel that my eye is blurred, I postpone the publication and after a while I return to it.

Write sincerely, do not try to copy someone’s style or syllable. You are unique and the thoughts you have can be much more interesting than typical blog posts. Write about what you are interested in and what you want to discuss or share with others.

EAnother important part of posts is photos.. There is a lot of information on the Internet and the reader is tired of the abundance of text, so it is unlikely that your posts without illustrations will be very popular, even if they are well written.

Illustrations should engage the reader enough that he is willing to spend 5 minutes of his time reading your text. It is important to choose the right pictures for your post. How do you do that? If you’re writing about food, it makes sense to take a picture of that food. If you are writing about something more abstract, what should you do? Here you need to think about what you associate with the topic on which you write. A banal example: if you write about freedom of choice, then an association with a bird soaring against the backdrop of the endless sky immediately comes to mind. After thinking a little more and giving yourself the opportunity to fantasize, you can find an even more telling illustration. If you run a corporate blog, it is wise to search for pictures on business topics. Posts about blogging can be illustrated with a photo with a lying laptop, a notebook, a cup of tea. All of this is associated with the workplace of this blogger. This can be a photo with a laptop lying on the grass in the park, or a photo of a board with notes or an image of a mudboard.

The number of photos in a post depends on the volume of the text and your goals. Naturally, for a small note, it will be appropriate to use one image, and for a step-by-step recipe or lesson, it is better to use many images that show the process in detail. Also, when writing a report from an event, many images can be used. But here, too, it's important not to overdo it. The plot of each subsequent photo should be different from the previous one, so that the viewer does not get tired of flipping through similar photos.

To correctly use a large number of images in the post, it will be useful to know the rules of interframe editing. These are the rules for sequential placement of shots in the cinema, they are also suitable when compiling a series of photos.

Several images can be used for medium-sized text. I like to put the first picture in the beginning, attracting the attention of the viewer. It is important that the first picture does not fall under the kat, i.e. the image was placed on the main site or blog before the “read more” button. The text can be divided into several parts, and before each part insert the remaining images. It is best that the photos were in the same style or with one shooting, so they will look more harmonious in the text.

Illustrations can completely interrupt the article, and can be streamlined with text, i.e. the text is on the side of the photo.I insert photos in full size, interrupting the text, because I spend a lot of time preparing images for each post, so I want readers to be able to see the images in detail.

For the second option of placing illustrations - flowing around the text, you can use reduced images, and if necessary, by clicking the mouse, the reader will be able to open the full version of the picture and consider it.

In the next post I will answer the question: where to get photos for a blog. And if you have any questions about this or the next topic, write them in the comments, I will try to answer each in detail. If you are interested in reading how to create a series of photos for publication, about the choice of frames from reporting and about the rules of interframe editing, then I can make a separate post on this topic.
