Why do you need snow in the greenhouse?
On a sunny winter day, we are waiting for one pleasant and very important work in the garden – filling unheated greenhouses with snow. This can cause surprise not only for beginners, but even for experienced gardeners.
Why do you need snow in the greenhouse?
Which from the word "warmth" and generally stands empty in winter, waiting for spring plantings seedlings and everything else. And still, it is worth waiting for good weather, dress warm, take a shovel and apply more snow to the greenhouse.
Cover all beds with a thick layer, but do not trample heavily, let a thick fluffy snow feather lie on the soil. Don’t be lazy, the more snow you bring in, the better. Do not be afraid that in spring there will be puddles under your feet - melt water will absorb very quickly. And here's why: In winter, in a closed, "not working" greenhouse, the soil dries out strongly. It thickens, becomes impermeable to both water and air. Such dry, hard land is absolutely not suitable for planting delicate young vegetation.
Even watering with water and increased loosening before landing do not fully save the situation. Seeds in such soil germinate poorly, seedlings are poorly accepted, grow weak and thin.
It is a shame to put so much work into the greenhouse and not get the expected result!
It is almost impossible to improve the dry and compacted land during the winter, except to bring a new one. But you won't completely renovate the soil every spring! This is where the snow comes to the rescue, just take care of it in advance.
By the end of January, the soil in the greenhouse is already quite frozen, it no longer has pathogens and vegetable pests. If you cover it with snow, it will still freeze, but not so intensely.
But at the same time, the land will not dry up, its natural structure will remain, and it is unnecessary to talk about moisture.
Everyone knows that the best watering for plants is melt water.
Only here it is not always in the right quantities, and to collect it, you need to put a lot of effort. And in the case of snow in the greenhouse, there is nothing to do!
He waved a shovel to the mood, or even attracted children, gave them a scoop or a small spatula - they certainly enjoyed it! As a result, the tracks are clean, and the greenhouse is prepared for spring.
And in March, when it comes time to sow seeds in the greenhouse and transplant seedlings, the soil will be moistened with the same, useful, melt water. The effect of it will not replace any, even the most abundant watering.
Therefore, do not be lazy to do such a simple and necessary work: fill the greenhouse with snow, “store” moisture, keep the land fertile and it will pay you back with harvest. published
