The scientists combined the coal waste with algae, creating clean biofuels

African scientists have created a new kind of clean biofuels made from coal dust and algae. Fuel briquettes called Coalgae (from the English word "algae and coal" — coal and algae). Now it is emphasized that Coalgae easy to produce, their cost is very low. When burning, these briquettes do not emit harmful smoke.

Scientists believe that their development will help to recycle the waste of the coal industry, which annually produces 50 to 60 million tonnes of by-product — coal dust. Thinking for the future, the researchers emphasize that Coalgae could help the Republic of South Africa is a significant importer of oil — to achieve a certain energy independence. Briquettes made from coal and algae could substitute the country up to 40% oil.

Development Coalgae engaged a team of scientists from the University of Nelson Mandela in South Africa. Here developed a method to mix coal dust and algae grown in artificial ponds, biofuel briquettes. It is noted that when heated Coalgae turn into pure, high-quality crude oil without smoke. published

P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
